Is Remotion really free?
For individuals and companies of up to three people, yes. Larger companies need a paid company license, and either way, rendering at scale generally means deploying and operating Remotion Lambda on your own AWS account, with its own quotas, costs, and cold-start behavior. Pictify's rendering is managed: you call an API.
Can Pictify match Remotion's flexibility?
Not frame-for-frame; React gives Remotion unlimited programmatic control. Pictify covers the personalization use cases: template-driven videos where text, images, colors, and clips vary per row. Templates are authored in a timeline editor, in code, or generated from a description by AI, and stay editable by non-developers.
Does Pictify support AI video template authoring?
Yes: describe the video ("a 15-second course-completion congratulation with the student's name and a confetti burst") and the AI Template Maker returns an editable template. No video API currently ships describe-to-editable-template authoring.
What formats does Pictify render?
MP4 video, GIF, plus the document side: PNG, JPG, WebP, and multi-page PDF, all from one API token and one template contract. A course platform can render the certificate and the congratulation video from the same run.
How do I get the rendered videos out?
A batch run renders every row of a CSV or every webhook event, gives you a per-row result with a CDN link, and fires a webhook when the run finishes, the same loop Pictify uses for documents.
